follow through

I love it when an architect has a great clear idea of language for their project and the client had the courage and trust to let them see it through.  I think this private guest cottage is a great example of both.  It is situated in a lush site along the Vaal River in Vanderbjlpark south of Johannesburg. The buildings function is as garden pavilions, with open entertain areas that also provide weekend accommodation. The building maximises the scenic surrounding by providing complete visual connection between the interior spaces and the surrounding landscape, how….with heaps of uninterrupted glass and beautiful detailing to ensure a smooth transition from inside to outside and back in again.  The architects studioMAS have done a great job…you know when it looks so simple that its actually super difficult!  Also having the humility to collaborate with an artist is a big step, whether forced on them by the client or of their volition the way it can lift a project can be seen here.  Hope you enjoy….
